Happy New Year!

Another year has gone by! As a solid 365 days from blessed moments of my life went past me, have I grown wiser? But I hope the child in me has gone younger, even as I grow older. I do not really care

I think, the fire in me has stayed on; that is, my compassion for the world at large, and my love for people around me. That is me that I know, and that is my way of thanking God for all that He has given me

Personally for me,the year 2010 was a mixed bag! It was somewhat better than previous years. Yet the year had its own tumultous moments that shook me totally and left me drained out emotionally. It was support from my family and countably few friends that helped me tide over the crisis. Storm seems to be over, as I see serene peace all around, though devastation of stormy times has left the landscape untidy.

On professional front, I am continuing my journey that I commenced a couple of years back. It is a long journey, and I am compelled to keep details under veil of professional code of confidentiality. It is, nevertheless, challenging and, hence, interesting. I shall report on that probably 8-10 years later.

As we bid farewell to 2010, and move into a bright new dream world of hope, I wish you and your family a very happy and prosperous new year!

Love and trust, the very raison d'ĂȘtre!

An interesting video (in Hindi) about how a father (who is a farmer) gave up everything he had to bring up his son. The boy eventually cleared the prestigious Indian Civil Service examination, as a topper, to become an IAS officer.

Boy's achievements are inspirational, indeed. Also, it is good to see that him making a clear distinction between challenge (sangharsh) and problem (dukh).

Equally impressive is the love and trust extended by the farmer to his son.

Unconditional love and trust everything is given up for a cause (in this case, son's education and career) is, I believe, the essence of a human life.

Love completely when you love. Trust completely when you trust.

Conditional love is not love; I consider it to be more dangerous than hate or absence of love.

Conditional trust is not trust; I consider it to be more demeaning than distrust

An ocean, in a soliloquy!

I woke up as a new ray of hope caressed me all over. I saw a new star rising up in my sky, bright and smiling. Winds of change blew across, waves of passion rose up seeking to touch the heaven above, eventually crashing painfully into myself.

My joy knew no bounds, blushing in my innocence, as star of dream came closer. Alas! My dream left my world, as I streched my hands to charm my dream in a warm embrance, and a gloom of darkness filled my world.

My heart sank to depths unknown. I found a new serene world, free from the undercurrent of deceit and waves of tempest crashing into tears. As I slept in my new world of tranquil, a new dream was rising up in heavens above

Don't break my heart!

Break my thoughts, if you must
It makes me wiser
Break my way, if you must
It makes me stronger
But don't ever break my heart
'coz you are my heart

Learning to live wiser!

I learned about force of gravity!

I also learned that knowledge in itself does not make you wiser; to be wiser, knowledge must be enriched by experience!

I longed for experience, and I had a free fall!

Then, I truly experienced force of gravity, and I became wiser.

I learned to live being less wiser!!

Being the son of dharma!

Did you say, world hails me as a son of dharma? Did you say, world looks forward to me as righteousness personified?

Title is bestowed on me by the destiny, and not my claim!

Title weighs heavy on me as I struggle hard to live by wisdom of practical living, yet living a life of values, in a unique ashwamedha of my own.

It is not a title that I sought, nor I am seeking it now. I have no claims of being son of righteousness.

I am no god, I have no power of god. I am a simple man, acutely aware of my limitations

It is just that I try to be on the side of dharma. I do so because my conscience directs me to.

I seek the truth relentlessly, desperately. I seek the truth as my restless mind seeks.

I know, I am not good at playing dice but I played as the time played dice with me. I lost the gamble, and I lost all that I held dear to me.

Perhaps, that is destined. May be, long years of adversity and oblivion was destined. How else shall I describe the turn of events?

All that I was left with was my heart, my bleeding heart. I gambled as the game was played on. I saw my heart, all alone wailing as it was being stripped off its pride and dignity.

Advocates of social and human values stood as a mute witness to the disaster being unfolded.

Tell me, please, my mother. Tell me, please, my father. Tell me, please, my Gurus. Where did you vanish, leaving me alone? Why did I lose you on the other side of wall? You told me that dharma wins! You told me that truth alone wins!

Did you teach me wrong, or did I learn it wrong? or is it just a game of great illusion?

Hope of a bright, new day!

A past is laid to rest in archives
Leaving me all alone, all on my own
Searched for Me in my solitude
Searched for Me that I lost a long ago

Dark clouds thundered in my dreams
Wild storms gushed through my heart
Heaven broke down into tears
As waves of pain hit my shores

Far away, I saw your smile
A new ray of hope, lighting up my dreams
A hope of a new dawn, a new beginning
A bright, new day is born

Colors of my small world!

My mind was quiet
Time stood still
I was alone in my small world
I longed for a change

I saw you, I saw me
I saw the world in me
I saw the world in prism of my mind
I longed for a rainbow

Winds of change blew
Clouds filled my sky
Thunder and lighting made my day
World shook in pain

My heart broke
Tears dropped down my eyes
I made a kaleidoscope with my broken heart
I saw a rainbow

That is me!

You tell me a man does not cry
You tell me a man does not cheat
You tell me a man does not fall

Why give me tears if I should not cry
Why break my heart if I should not weep
Why agony, Why pain, Why bruises

Don't chain me with your rules
I break free of your endless rules
'coz I care for you but not your rules

I cry when it hurts hard
I cry when I see you cry
My heart breaks when I see your pain

I laugh when I am happy
I laugh when you laugh at me
I laugh at me, at my joke

I laugh at me for being a joke
A joke, not yet learned the art of living
A joke, not yet learned the art of deceiving

I laugh at my joke
A joke, that I made of the world
A joke, that I made myself to be

I cry because I am a man
I smile because I am a man
'coz I am what I am

I care not for name
I care not for fame
'coz it's all but a game

Hope of a new dawn!

Even as world is caught in drastic changes, it makes sense to reflect and wonder whether we are in the process of killing ourselves.

Even as we are caught in the rat race, it helps to pause, at times, and ponder whether we are missing the beauty of flowers at our feet in the haste to reach out to the moon.

Even as we strive for our goals in life, it pays to share our success and grow, because success sweeter when shared, because growth is easier when shared, because life is fun and life is also responsibility

Even as India is hailed as a world power, it would be a shame to bask in its glory while more than half of our brethren are left in the lurch, while Indian women are still dumped into wilderness of shame, apathy and misery

I am glad to note that fire of compassion and empathy in the hearts of Indian youth is not yet put out by the winds of change. I am happy to note that humanness has not yet been lost despite growing ambitions and aspirations of new India

It fills me with the hope of a new dawn of a whole new world.

Lamenting nostalgia of future!

Recently, I was teaching my kids about reflection and refraction of light. I was more than amused when they told me that they have not yet seen a rainbow except in silver screen or TV. Innocent question suddenly lured me years back into enchanting memories; to a past when life was so simple

I was brought up in Tripunithura, a suburb of Kochi (formerly Cochin). In the times of yore, I could eternally watch majestic approach of rain as benevolent rain gods showered his incessant love on us, gifting a loads of ripe, sweet mangos in a gentle breeze. Mythological stars of folklore of my land used to share space with Sherlock Homes and James Bond to live in my dreams, without grudges and squabbles of ethnic, racial, linguistic, religious divides.

Stop, my mind, please! World has moved far ahead than you have! Don't waste precious time, looking back and lamenting! Myths emerging out of painting to give caressing care of love to an innocent youth is long lost, in the blinding wisdom of modernity. Cuddling care and fond touch of nature is replaced by lullabies mechanically aired by wonders of electronics.

Yet, here I am, drifting across continents, fervently searching for the soul of Shakespere and Shelly; the soul that my teachers, who devoted their time and passion into archives of knowledge, showed me. Did I hear you say 'Much ado about nothing'?

I realize, rather late though, that separated by time and distance they may be but separated at heart, they were not.

Is my heart bleeding at the sharp cutting edge of technology? In the hope of reaching to the moon far away, have we missed the beauty of flower at our feet? As the lure of past is laid to rest in grim solitude of my mind, I heard a mysteriously distinct voice asking me quo vadis?'

A new day, a new dream, a whole new world!

I was sitting alone, all alone, with my eyes lost into vast horizon. Waves of passion was lashing my feet in gentle touch, and day was blushing under care and caress.

Far, far away, I saw sun walking alone into depths of cold darkness. Before I knew, I lost it into oblivion and it was dark all around. I lost myself into shrieking darkness

Then, I saw a ray of hope as you winked at me from above. I was relaxed, retiring into a quiet sleep.

When I woke after a peaceful sleep, the ray of hope thay you showed me was much brighter.

It was birth of a new day; a new dream, a whole new world

A glance into past!

I was taken into mid-late 1980s by a letter from a daughter of my first Guru from my formative days. (The letter was posted in an online discussion group of his family, and a cousin-friend was kind enough to forward it to me)

His name is Kodungallur Marumakan Raja (K M Raja). He is my uncle, by somewhat distant relation on my paternal side. I first met him on the very day I landed in Delhi, as he had come to the railway station to pick me up on my parent's request. I used to call him Maruvammavan, a malayalam equivalent of Marumakan-Uncle, since then. I was one of those visitors of his 'Hyde Park', till the time he left Delhi relocating himself at Bhopal.

I was touched by the write-up about Maruvammavan, titled 'Bringing Up Father', by his daughter. Tears drop down my eyes, as I read every line. Even the title of the write-up looks so appropriate to me as I was introduced by him to that cartoon strip titled the same.

I understand that he is suffering from dementia now. I met him once when his memories started failing, a few years back, and I met him recently a few months back. It was indeed hard to see in him in that state. I had to reconcile into a strange numbness with a realization that 'a flower falls even though we love it ....'

Tears in my eyes do not know Maruvammavan. But I know, and, I think, tears are being unfair to the proud and independent man that he is. Therefore, I decided to arrest my tears and write this piece.

He is one my earliest mentors, apart from my parents, and my first true Guru. I would, definitely, have been a different person (and, I am proud of what I am), had I not had the fortune of meeting him, and being with him in his prime (albeit, for a short while).

I proudly recall those debates and discussions, in the durbar of Maruvammavan, of which I was fortunate to have been part of (only for a short while, though). I recount those to my friends, on every occasion till date, and all my close friends, including my wife and kids, knows about most, if not all, of discussions.

His thoroughly independent nature may have ruffled a few feathers hear and there. It is just that, he dared to be different; he said and did what he believed is right. I am reminded of famous quote from Albert Einstein "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds"

I believe that true great people are not found in glorified idols of archives but amongst us in our daily life. Greatness is not doing great things but doing small thing great. As a father of two girls, I have tried to emulate Maruvammavan but I am acutely aware that Maruvammavan is only one, and can be only one. It all looked so simple when he did.

I am at loss of words, and let me close saying 'hats off' to the great person that he is. I am glad to see his spirit living on through his daughters

Happy Onam!

In the land blessed by God, not yet completely ruined by man, it is now celebration time.

For others like me, who are away from this land, it is time of nostalgia; notalgia of a past long lost into annals of history.

This is perhaps the only place on earth which interacted with people from far off lands, even from the times of roman/greek civilizations, and accepted the differences. The differences are accepted without belittling them nor loosing once own identity; perhaps a lesson for the whole world as thousands of lives are lost in the name of trivial dogmas

I am glad to observe much of that spirit continues with us, even today.

For instance, take a look at malayalam movies in the past and now. Malayalam movies are unique in its portrayal of people of different ethnicity or language in heroic light, and that is accepted by the people!

Take a look at the language, it has accepted words from many other languages yet maintains its uniqueness.

Is this lack of identity or an identity in itself? Often, we hear cries of Kerala/Malayalam loosing its identity in the cultural melting pot of global village.

Identity of Kerala/Malayalam is not hardened fundamentalism of the weak but rather gentle openness of the strong. It is soothing peace from the land where heights of spiritual wisdom meets depth of humility. It is the land where king sacrificed his powers, and worldly existence, for the overall benefit of people. It is a place where divine worship goes beyond the confines of religious barriers and dogmas

I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Onam as Onam celebrations starts today

Intellectual vaccum!

I am not a sociologist or economist, nor a follower of any specific socio-economic-political ideology. I am a curious observer of socio-political scene.

History of 20th century, as I see it, is dominated by two contrasting ideologies of communism and capitalism. These have its root in economics, both has influenced socio-political scenario around the world. Their influence was so high that it created a bi-polar world forcing most of the coiuntries to align with one of them

As a neutral observer, I did find merits in value proposition of both the ideologies, though I was not a fan of either. Rather, before I could see their value propositions being translated into actual value, both collapsed

What is interesting is, value proposition of communism was buried deep in its grave by its major advocates towards end of century. If what I am seeing is anything to go by, value proposition of capitalism is ready for its grave, being killed by its very proponents. It is being becoming clear, by now, that the notion of natural balance of free market was a matter of political convenience rather than being an ideology.

Is it not yet time for us to go back to our Swadeshi Movement

Couplet in Malayalam, written years back

Couplet in Malayalam that I written years back

Just happened to recall during a discussion yesterday, within my family.

Occasion was birthday one of my best friends. I had selected a greeting card to send him. The card carried a picture of a beautiful flower basket; a red rose standing out from rest of flowers in the basket.

Cost of development!?

Fallout of social development, as we have it, is destruction of environment.

A major part of the damage is by carbon emissions. Interestingly, China is leading the list of countries which contribute to carbon emissions, as per a recent report but interestingly US scores as biggest polluter per capita

Is the world at large require to bear the cost of comfort of the affluent few?

It is time to wake up. It is time for corrective action.

Making life more and more complex

There was a time when shifting place of stay was a matter of a couple of hours.

As time passed, I have acquired many things and that has made what used to be simple activity very complex. Work started a week back and it is just getting over.

Much of actual shifting was done by an agency but still much of work remains. Well, as they say, 'devil is in the details'... so much true for work at home as much as for business.

When I pause to consider how much of my acquisitions actually deliver value to my life, I find that it is very little.

Does race matter still?

There has been a lot of discussion on merits of free market, and it has been an extension of capitalist economic model. I love much of it, if only for the spirit of freedom that it stands for. Freedom for investors, Freedom for business, freedom for employers, freedom for employees, freedom for buyers and freedom for sellers.... or perhaps, that is what I believed.

I am not an economist. In my understanding, as a layman, a free market is driven by market forces rather than extraneous factors, business is conducted based on scientific management and business analysis, performance and merit are the only consideration for employment and career.

Therefore, I am surprised when racial factors spark a debate on matters of employment in countries which rest of world look upto

I am shocked the very advocates of freedom and liberty are seen to be sulking. Was advocacy of free market was matter of convenience rather than matter of principle?

I do not think language is truly a barrier in the context of international business. English is almost lingua franca, across the world.

Is language truly a barrier when it is a skill that can be acquired, and there are plenty of choices when it comes to getting up to speed on any language, for daily living/business.

Or is it another way of bringing up racial barriers? Have we not yet seen end of the evil called racism, even as the world is getting smaller?

A land blessed by God

God's own country!
A land blessed by God
Not yet ruined completely by man.

A land,
... Where innocence still permeates the country side,
... Where wounds of past are washed clean by perennial rains,
... Where tears from depth of sea meets heights
... Where dreams of fertile life sprouts, with each rain drop falling,
... Where benevolent God showers blessings from clouds above,
... Where blessings from heavens above nourish every inch of land

Wonder for how long can it maintain its serene divinity as the deceptive winds of change is knocking at its door,
An innocent youth is easily lured into enticing promises elusive dreams;
Lost into eternal chase of mirages!

Promised land is here!
A divine blessing to the man kind!

Total and systematic destruction of Self

Total and systematic destruction Self and ego!

It is happening now, and it is hurts!

Consciously or otherwise, we form a perception of the Self as we grow up. Then it crystallises into a structure.

As the storm of hard times lash through the land of life, it breaks down the structure, bringing down ego, self esteem and every other edifice on which life is built on.

When remains now is a life at crossroads; or many lives rather...

What is life after that, only time can tell... lives lost, dreams shattered, ... or perhaps a miracle ... a new dawn of peace! .. or is it making a new Self whom I am not yet familiar?

Barcamp Chennai

I heard about Barcamp recently through a friend of mine. It sounds quite interesting!

Looks like, I missed previous Barcamp, and going by what I see on the net (1, 2, 3), I think I missed quite a bit

look forward to join the next, without fail. It seems Barcamp, Chennai happens only once a year; will that mean next year? Hope it happens sooner.

Tried to register; seems it is locked for now!

Beyond the powers of creation and destruction!

What is the goal of science? Taking man close to perceived "divine" powers? Making man immortal? Giving man control over the world that he lives in? Are trying to master the art of cosmic dance?

If that translates to mean attaining the powers of creation and destruction, mankind seems to pretty close to it. Early 20th century gave hints of getting destructive powers which was realized by middle of 20th century. World is still struggling to put genie back in the bottle

Now, by early 21st century, we are finding possibilities of getting powers of creation.... What we do attaining these powers? Can we balance these powers, ensuring sustenance/maintenance? Interestingly, out of complementary powers of Trinity, what seems to defy control is sustenance/maintenance

Tragedy@Mangalore Airport

I was shocked to learn about the tragedy@Mangalore(India) airport

I have not landed ever at Mangalore airport. But I was curious to find this video showing landing at the Mangalore airport.

Good video but when we travel, do we realize that the cost of even a slight mistake is so high? Do we realize the relative risk so that we can take informed decisions? Does it take such a cost to realize?

Are we killing ourselves?

I have heard many theists using 'ability to create life' as a key capability distinguishing man from god. Arguments goes like this: "Man may have capability to destroy but can he create life?"

If that is what makes a man supreme power and equal to God, man kind as a race is on the threshold of divine bliss and stature of god. But is that truly so?

Are we capable of controlling what is around us? Are we capable of controlling our creation? Are we able to manage our own destructive powers? In short, are we able to control ourselves? If not, of what use are these powers?

I am not against scientific research and progress; I am very much with it so long as we also understand limitations of science and importance of being put to the right use, and ensuring it is put only to such a use.

I am reminded of Why the future doesn't need us. Well, that threat is now more real that ever!

Technology that matters!

I like a technology when it helps; when it helps me, people around me, and the world at large. I like ATM when I look from that perspective. It has made my banking experience simpler.

I remember the time when many productive hours were wasted in bank, standing in queue, just to withdraw money. I remember  the time when I had to go around carrying a lot of cash. Well, that was difficult and insecure, considering risk of losing, pickpocket stealing, ..., especially in the crowd.  I remember the time when pickpocket stole my money.

For almost a decade by now, I always carry just enough cash only, with comfort that I can withdraw money from an ATM close by, wherever  (well, almost) I am in the world

I had my share of  bad experiences with ATMs but that has nothing to do with technology but rather with the people and system. For instance, I withdrew some money from Syndicate Bank a few months back and I got some paper instead of currency note. Cash counting device within ATM did not distinguish between the note and the paper. I reported this promptly to nearby branch; they gave sympathetic listening, and took my request but   but they have neither credited the amount to my account nor bothered to inform me. (I must admit that this was first and only such experience in past ten years of using ATMs)

Being born and brought up here, I understand that it happens, especially in this part of the world. I do not blame technology; it has more to do with people and systems than technology. We create technology and, naturally,  it has imperfections. Technology is not meant to replace people but only to help. People make difference; if they don't, technology cannot be blamed.

I found ATMs, during my visit to Kerala, even that places where I did not expect them. That is, ATMs are everywhere; reaching out even to villages. It is making difference, everywhere and to everyone cutting across rural/urban, rich/poor, literate/illiterate divides and I like it.

Hats off to the inventor

Pre-monsoon showers in Kerala

I took a very short break from business, went to my home town, Kodungallur, and Guruvayur. My parents have come from Delhi for a short visit.

Experiencing early pre-monsoon showers in Kerala was, indeed, rejuvenating experience, especially while going from Chennai.

Chennai was boiling under scorching heat of Agni Natchathiram . Of course, by now, heat of Chennai has come down drastically with the cyclone 'Laila'

Made a short visit to Hill Palace, Tripunithura

Went to Kodungallur with my family, parents, sister and her family; a family reunion at my father's place (Indira Mandiram, Chirakkal Kovilakam, Kodungallur), after a long while.

Yet another avoidable man-made disaster!

Some disasters happen, and we could hardly do anything about it, as in case of Tsunami. We could only keep a watch and be prepared, and minimize damage through collective action... and then, there are which could have been avoided with a little extra care. It is sad to see them recurring and it is sad when precious human life is lost. There is news in the media the next day but for those affected life goes on ... life changed for ever, irreversibly

Cost of compromise!

Cost of compromise! A lesson from the world of cricket.

World of professionals (irrespective of what the profession is) is inevitably and inexplicably tied to business, and lure of money. The more the money and visibility involved, the more is responsibility that comes with it.

Cricketers of modern India are part and parcel of 'sports and entertainment business'. Those who cannot, are simply not worth the position that they are given. Position of respect, power and/or fame comes with the responsibility conducting oneself in a manner which is, and looks, responsible and accountable. One cannot take part of the deal and decide not to take the other.

In this context, blaming failure in T20 world cup on IPL looks more of kiddish argument, and no where close to being a professional. This is more alarming than failure in itself. I think, it is time they start behaving like a professional

India, and the new world order

No more than a couple of decades back, India was considered to be 'land of bullock carts' or 'land of oriental mystics'. Pace of changes after globalization/liberalization since 1991 has, indeed, changed the face of India beyond recognition,in the emerging world order. Some of those are good while some others are not!

As an Indian, I am proud to see India basking in the new found glory yet it pains to observe that much of what has changed is only the face. I miss the bank officials in friendly neighbourhood of old times. When I go to the bank now, it costs me more (any time banking.. It is for my convenience or bank's?)

I am glad to see computing reach out to rural India in the form of mobile phones but I am sad to see that they still live in miserable conditions. It pains because what goes around in the name of development is breaking apart the social fabric and development is tearing apart the social fabric. It raises fundamental questions and development, without addressing these, is not sustainable.

Deep within India is still the same. To know what I mean, get closer to the life of an average Indian. I am not referring to the Indian that you find in Airports walking around with laptops, iPhones and what not. That is only a small fraction. Rest of India is still starving

Yes, World is going through a turmoil triggered by a chain of economic crises and that raises fundamental questions. I believe India does hold answers to many of them but, before that, we have a long way to go to keep our house in order.

An interesting(?) paradox

Two news items in Mathrubhumi today has caught my attention.

One item reports that two people drowned in the river Pamba and another reports that there is no water in Pamba (Sabarimala), both places being in the same district in Kerala

A moment in history!

Now is an important moment in history. World seems to have come a full circle

East India Company which left an indelible mark on history of India for good and bad. Days of colonialism is lost into annals of history but not necessarily from minds of people yet. English has almost become language connecting the whole world

Now it is interesting to observe that East India Company is bought by an Indian.

Politics of Technology

Internet has simplified computing manifold, in 1990s, and thereby taking technology to every walk of life. First decade of the new millennium has seen it evolving increasingly into a platform for social collaboration. By and large, collective human endeavor has been behind this success with open and free interaction.

Popularity and adoption has also led to burgeoning trends in attack of malicious intent on this wonderland, and sometimes with political undertones. This runs counter to spirit of largely trust based interaction of professionals and volunteers. But, then, it is a natural consequence of social adoption of technology and cannot be wished away.

As is made out sometimes, problem is neither with technology nor with social adoption but the recklessness of its adoption. Technology is often adoption without adequate cost-benefit analysis; obviously, cost-benefit mentioned here is not just from economic perspectives

I think it is time for sociologist take a serious look at unprecedented social changes triggered by evolving technology, to contain its negative impacts, before it turns out to be a frankenstein

Sociological challenges in a changing world!

I tend to agree Grady Booch's advice that "not everything we want to build, can be built. Not everything we want to build, should be built". By extension, we should not be doing everything we want to; there are moral, social and political limits. Yet the social landscape is changing.

Advancements in science and technology is changing the world we live in beyond recognition, whether we like it or not. While fundamental human values may not be at risk, social norms are. They are being challenged and tested, albeit in pockets in isolation.

It seems that notion of building blocks of society like family, community, nation etc requires a new definition in the light of new possibilities emerging; and that need to happen at global scale in a shrinking world

Innocence lost

Child in me is lost somewhere here? Well, this is where I was born. This is where I spend my childhood and teens. As I went in search of future, I lost my past somewhere; changed in an irreversible manner! I am still looking around... Do you see me around? Do you see me in you?

View My Hometown in a larger map

This used to be part of a small village during my childhood, people around so well known but now a crowded with old timers sparsely spread. Buzz of beetles are now replaced by roar of the concrete jungle; a nostalgic past is being lost into a dream of future. Frightening peace of quiet nights are no more around. Culture has become a show piece and celebrations too have become urbanized

Oh Janus, where are you? Tell us the art of looking into past yet keeping future in sight

Fear vs Respect

Fear and Respect. Surprisingly, these are words often used synonymously. Have you not heard of people talking about being 'god-fearing' instead of being 'god-believing'?

Fear is a negative feeling coming from a position of weakness. It comes either out of guilt or sheer helplessness. Fear gets exploited everywhere. In the places of work, workshop, with friends and even at home. Fear terrifies you of consequences and stops you from an action. Fear blocks your mind and hinders free thinking. Fear is demanded by the weak from the weak. Fear comes out of ignorance; not knowing what is in other person's mind, what is to happen next, what if ......

Respect is a positive feeling, comes from a position of strength. You respect a person when you see a person (or an entity) better in some aspect; may be knowledge, power, position, money... be it whatever, it energizes your mind and propels you into action. Respect is commanded by the strong and respect is given by the strong. Respect comes knowledge; knowing you, knowing your choices, knowing others and knowing the world

Fear breaks; Respect mends.
Fear hurts; Respect heals.
Fear suffocates; Respect motivates.
Fear arrests; Respect enables.

For a better life, better family, better business, better world, nurture respect always and everywhere. Destroy fear always, everywhere
